The Look: Walking to Work

Dear Fashion Do -

What do you wear on the way to work that keeps your skirt from being gone with the Ottawa wind?
  • A colorful outer layer
  • A trench - and the length hits at just the right spot (alterations welcome:)
  • Jackets with a flattering flare at the bottom are a nice touch

Love it!

The Look: Walking to Work

Dear Fashion Do -

What do you wear on your feet as you pedestrian power walk it to the office?
  • A supportive flat
  • Fun colors that complement your ensemble
  • A shoe with some cushioning in the sole so pounding the pavement isn't so painful

Love it!

Fashion Show - Do or Don't?

The Team had a meeting yesterday, and some sweet realities settled. First, since we're not all going to be here over the summer, pulling off an exciting and successful fashion show would be a huge challenge. Also, none of us are actually from Ottawa, so we need more time to get our feet wet, meet more folks in Ottawa's fashion culture, and build up to an event that'll be phenomenal!

So...........in the meantime, we're nurturing another idea.
The fashion show was born of 1) the need to have something to do, 2) spend time with women we love being around, and 3) focus on something we all have in common, and fashion and style are threaded throughout our lives.

As we dug into brownies and sipped on smoothies yesterday, we came up with the thought that maybe we should focus on planning smaller events....like our potlucks!

Every so often, us chicks get together at someone's house, bring a dish and a bottle of wine, and catch up, vent, scream, dream, get/give advice, and summon all the energy, love, and inspiration to keep our lives abundant.

We're planning the first potluck for July 24, so do keep your calendars open. Each guest will be asked to tote a bottle of wine, and snacks, cheese, and good company will be provided. Hope to see you there!

Some ideas for venues....

Hi team WTW!

I was in touch with a friend of a friend, who had some great ideas about possible locations for the show...

  1. Parliament ultra club- if its during the week or early enough on a weekend night they have it all from stage to back stage prep. And you can. Guarantee beverages.
  2. War museum- not sure about the price but I just coordinated a fashion show there and it was great!
  3. Hampton inn- I've done a few shows there and they are very accommodating and hold enough people
  4. Arts place- where fashion week is held

Any thoughts?

Homework

Ladies,

Here is my homework assignment on body types.

Types of body shapes:

1. Pear: Torso and upper body smaller than your hips -- with waist definition

2. Hourglass: Torso and hips are approximately the same width -- with waist definition

3. Rectangle: Torso and upper body are the same width as your hips -- little waist definition

4. Inverted Triangle: Torso and upper body wider than your hips -- with little waist definition

5. Apple: Torso and upper body wider than your hips -- with little or no waist definition. You might have weight surrounding your waist.

Do we need more?
